2008-10-07 PumpkinThis is a featured page

Due to high demand, this year the Halloween event from 2007 has been brought back! It is being run exactly the same, so this guide was copied from the 2007 guide. A few minor updates have been made to it to bring it up to speed with the various features that have been added during the past year.

This guide can also be found on Aeria's forums, stickied under Last Chaos > Self Help > Class Info & Guides > General.

How you can get baskets -
To get baskets, you must kill monsters that are equal to or above your level. Monsters below your level, even those that still have white names, will not drop baskets. So check up on those monster levels before you go hunting!

What you can get from turning in baskets -
Baskets must be turned in to a Pumpkin Scarecrow; any Pumpkin Scarecrow will do. Baskets must be turned in one at a time. When you turn in baskets, you will recieve one of the six types of candy in exchange.

What you can get from turning in candy -
Pumpkin HeadIf you have at least one of each type of candy, you may turn them in to the Pumpkin Scarecrow and receive a Jack-o'-lantern hat. While not the prettiest things in the world, Jack-o'-lantern hats are very important because they are necessary for you to be able to see the Pumpkin Ghosts! The hats have defense just like normal helmets; they give you 50 Physical Defense and 20 Magical Defense no matter what your character level or class is.

Evil EarsBecause of the magical defense, Jack-o'-lantern hats are useful for fighting magical creatures. But guess what? The free Evil Headbands are actually even better for this! They give you 30 Physical Defense and 30 Magical Defense. Each character may receive one free Evil Headband for their class from a Pumpkin Scarecrow. Be aware, however, that if you drop, trade, or sell your Evil Headband, you will not be given another.

What you can get from eating one of the six types of candy -
When you eat a candy, you will receive a message saying that it has one of the five possible tastes. Each taste is like a buff that has a temporary effect on your character.

Heavenly tasteHeavenly taste Movement speed and max HP are increased by 20% for 5 minutes.
Good tasteGood taste Max HP is increased by 20% for 5 minutes.
O.K. tasteO.K. taste Movement speed is increased by 20% for 5 minutes.
Bad tasteBad taste Movement speed is decreased by 20% for 2 minutes.
Terrible tasteTerrible taste Movement speed is decreased by 20% and max HP is decreased by 30% for 2 minutes.

As you eat the candy and get random tastes from it, you may also receive vouchers. There are two types: The Voucher of good taste and the Voucher of bad taste. You will receive the Voucher of good taste when you eat a candy that gives you a Heavenly taste, and the Voucher of bad taste when you eat a candy that gives you a Terrible (aka. Disgusting) taste. The in-between tastes will not give you vouchers.

These vouchers are found in your "Event inventory," which can be accessed by pressing the bottom left tab on your inventory screen. Vouchers may not be bought, sold, traded, dropped, or picked up--just looked at.

What you can get from turning in vouchers -
When you turn in vouchers, you may receive a witch or a wizard hat. To get a hat, you must turn in a Voucher of good taste as well as a Voucher of bad taste. The hat you get depends on your class. The females (Healer, Mage, Rogue) get Witch hats and the males (Titan, Knight, Sorcerer) get Wizard hats. Witch hats have a red band, Wizard hats have a blue band.

These hats are for decoration only and will be removed from your inventory in 3 months. They are are covers and may be melded to your helm, however if you do this the hat will disappear when the melding book expires. The hats may be stored in your Warehouse, but this will not lengthen their "life." They will still vanish 3 months from the day you receive them.

Pumpkin GhostPumpkins are dropped by Pumpkin Ghosts, which you must be wearing a Jack-o'-lantern hat to be able to see. Pumpkin Ghosts are level 20, so they will be blue-named to most of you. Don't worry though, unlike regular monsters the Pumpkin Ghosts' drop rate is not affected by your level! Their drop rate appears to be fixed at about 30%, so don't be too surprised if you draw a blank a couple times in a row when killing these.

Pumpkin Ghosts are bright orange, big, and passive. They have quite a bit of HP (~4700), moderate defense, and a very low attack. Despite the fact that they blow flames when they attack, it is purely physical; no magic skills are involved. Don't be afraid of 'em!

Once again grats Ona for the fast and very useful guide of the event. I love this event and loved it last year too but I starting to feel that Aeria have no new ideas when it comes to events because the Halloween event is almost exectly the same as last year. Insect collecting was the same too. Ok so the Monthly Haunting is something that weren't before but still I feel that Aeria either run out of ideas or they don't even want to think of something new... Hope they come up with something new for christmas
