| There are two kinds of resources in an herb patch. One is called an Herb and the other is called a Magical Herb. If you ask someone about the difference between them, you will most likely be told that they produce different kinds of herbs. This is not true. Both resources produce the same herbs. So if they both produce the same thing, why do they have different names? To help you differentiate between the type of resources that they are. Herbs are temporary resources. They will wear out and disappear after about 10 minutes of being gathered from. Magical Herbs, on the other hand, are permanent resources. These stay forever. Since Herbs are temporary resources, they will produce herbs for you faster than Magical Herbs will. Because of this, Herbs are the best to harvest from if you are active at the computer. If you are going to go AFK for more than 10 minutes, then Magical Herbs are best. | Herb |

| There are three different herbs you can get: | |
| (Low-grade herb) | (Medium-grade herb) | (High-grade herb) |
| | To harvest from an Herb (or Magical Herb), click on it. The window on the left should pop up. As you can see, it is asking you to choose between random harvesting and selective harvesting. If you choose to harvest randomly, you will have a chance of receiving any of the three different kinds of herbs in any order. |
| | If you choose to harvest selectively, then you will have to specify which herb type you want. Many people harvest selectively because they say that they do not want or have no need for the other two types of herbs. However, what they don't realize is that selective harvesting is much much slower than random harvesting. |
| Herbalism skills allow you to harvest herbs faster. You may learn these skills from the Elite Farmer NPC. Wild Collector Kal (in Juno) also teaches Herbalism. To learn the skills or raise your skill level, talk to the appropriate NPC and select option 1, "Learn skills." Here's a table showing the amount of SP needed to learn each level of the Herbalism skill. | |

This entire article was drawn from a short period of speculation and testing - information might not be absolute.
If anyone has afk produced overnight they may have noticed that they had stopped by the time they came back. This is due to a little noticed stat of the tool called endurance. As you harvest a tool will lose endurance until it eventually breaks. A new tool has 7200 endurance. As you produce the tool loses endurance slightly faster than pets gain xp. The endurance of a tool has no relation to the amount produced with the tool. Tool aids will give the same amount regardless of a tools endurance. |
