Horse and drake mounted pet skillsThis is a featured page

Mounted pets have a set type of skills that they can learn. Dragons learn mostly offensive AoE skills and Knightmares learn mostly defensive buff skills. These charts will show you what the exact effects of each of the skills are. For some of them, I have included an additional note to help make things clearer.

You can see the mounted pet skills for your pet's type on the Animal Trainer's skill list when your pet is not a mount, but if you try to teach them to your pet you will receive an error message. Only pets level 31 or above may become mounts, and only mounts may learn these skills. Remember that once a pet is made into a mount it will no longer gain XP, so it cannot gain any more TP for you to spend on the desired mount skills. If you mount your pet too early and don't have enough TP, there is always the option of unmounting -- but this costs quite a bit, so try to add carefully and get things right the first time around.

Like unmounted pet skills, the TP spent on mounted pet skills can be reset for free by the Animal Trainer whenever you like. Most people don't need to have their mount skills reset unless trading or selling the pet, though.

Knightmare (mounted horse) skills

Most horses are mounted at level 31, 33, or 37. The best level at which to mount a horse is 37. People mount them at level 31 because it is the earliest they can be mounted and at level 33 because that is the level requirement for level 10 Offensive Hauling. However, level 31 and level 33 Knightmares cannot max out both Offensive Hauling and Defensive Hauling--their most important skills--because they do not have enough TP. To be able to learn level 10 of both Hauling skills your Knightmare needs 36 TP, which means they must be level 37. Some people wait until level 38 to mount so they can have Crying for bragging rights.

It takes a total of 58 TP to max out all of a Knightmare's skills.

10 2 10 90 10 60 300 seconds 55 20 meters
Note This skill increases the attack of your character and all party members (if any) within range. A Knightmare must be at least level 33 before it can learn level 10 of Offensive Hauling. If you have a Knightmare below level 33 and try to teach it that level of the skill, you will receive a message saying that your level is too low. However, in actuality, it is the Knightmare's level.

Note This skill is supposed to provoke up to 6 monsters within range to attack you. Its range is 20 meters, however testing has shown that its effect range is closer to 10 meters. This skill does not seem to work 100% of the time. The skill information in-game says nothing about a chance of success, so the exact chance is unknown.

8 2 50 400 50 400
9 3 50 450 50 450
10 3 50 500 50 500
Note This is considered a useless skill because it only increases your HP and MP while you are riding your Knightmare. You cannot attack while on your Knightmare, so the extra HP and MP do you little good. Also, this skill's effects are determined by your mount's sympathy toward you--just like the skills of unmounted pets. The lower the sympathy, the less of a boost you'll get.

Dragon (mounted drake) skills

Most drakes are mounted at level 31, 33, 35, and 37. The best level at which to mount a drake seems to be 33. People mount them at 31 because that is the earliest they can be mounted, however a level 31 Dragon is unable to learn level 9 of Dragon Breath--its most important attack skill. A Dragon's second most important skill is definitely Live Regen. To be able to max both of these skills out the Dragon must be a minimum of level 33. It costs 16 TP for Dragon Breath and 10 TP for Live Regen, leaving a level 33 Dragon with 6 TP to spend on the debuff skills Dragon Roar and Dragon Poison. Some people find these skills useful, others don't. Those that do usually level their drakes up to 35 or 37 before mounting them.

It takes a total of 60 TP to max out all of a Dragon's skills. Pet levels are currently capped at 60, so it is not possible to have a Dragon with all of the skills.

Note This is an AoE attack skill that damages your target and up to 5 others around them (so 6 targets max). A Dragon must be at least level 33 before it can learn level 9 of Dragon Breath. The effect listed is the base attack power for each level of the skill. Damage is calculated with this equation: (your attack)+300+(skill level b.atk power). If your character is a Titan, Knight, Healer-Archer, or Rogue then your physical attack will be the number used for "your attack." If your character is a Healer-Cleric, Mage, or Sorcerer then your magical attack will be the number used for "your attack." Remember that attack is increased when your weapon is equipped. Credit goes to MasterOfGhosts for discovering the equation!

Myko Mounted Pet skill rumours 2 Jul 1 2009, 10:47 AM EDT by Agarwaen
Thread started: Aug 7 2008, 8:06 AM EDT  Watch
I heard rumors about a change in the pet skills. According to my source it is planned to add 2 more levels to the haulings. You would need to level your pet to 45 to get both haulings maxed then. Anyone know more about this?

I was just wondering if it is possible to attack with your own weapons on a mounted dragon.. Simple "yes"/"no" will do. Thanks.

Just for information (not sure where to put it, so I opened a thread):
I (finally) got a mounted knightmare horse. Now I found out that you can't use the haulings when you use invocations as Sorcerer Specialist. You need to undo the invocation, then "haul" and then "invocate" again, what is 100 additional mana each time you use the buffs.
