Your "target" character that you wish to trade with must be within visible range, which is about 20 meters (the edge of the compass). Equipment may not be equipped or unequipped while trading, potions may not be used, and your inventory may not be rearranged. You may, however, move around, attack, and talk while performing a trade.

You only get the "Cancel" option, since you are the one who initiated the trade.

As you can see in the background of this screenshot, my character is next to kaliyuga--the person I'm trading with--to perform this trade. This is the way most trades are done, simply because clicking on someone else's character makes your character run over to them.

Like in the Merchant Mode window, the trade window has three sections, with your inventory displayed in the bottom section. The amount of gold you have is also displayed, at the bottom of the window under your inventory but above the buttons.

When trading pets, be sure to check the pet's level every single time. People selling pets below average market prices are usually trying to scam you. The pet scam is very common and many people fall for it. To avoid it, take your time, check the things you are getting, and don't be afraid to just say "No thanks, I changed my mind about it." If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. Don't be blinded by excitement or greed.

Signs of a pet scammer include:
  1. Repeated closing/opening of the trade window.
  2. Excuses about lagging, bumping the wrong key, mouse malfunctions, little brothers, forgetting "something," etc.
  3. Asking you to hurry or saying that they're in a rush and have to leave/go to sleep/eat/shutdown, etc.
  4. Threatening that they may sell the cheap pet to someone else.
  5. Saying the pet isn't worth much to them any more and they just want to dump it.
  6. Finally swapping the pet out for a level 1 after some or all of the above things have happened.
