Update: May 31, 2008 -The
Wiki promotion section is now up. There are two pages--
Userbars and
Signatures. The former is still under construction, the latter has a pretty good thing going.
The
Titan weapons & armor section is completed, images may start being added.
I've been working on collecting hair backs to add to the
Creating a character page, as
suggested by Myko. Will cut out the ones I have and add them tomorrow or the next day. Myko also
suggested adding the SP totals for each skill to the pages in the
Class skills section. Love the idea, can't believe I didn't think of it before. purpleflame came up with a good spot to put the totals and now I've filled them in in the Mage section. All totals for all character skills should be done shortly.
Update: May 30, 2008 -I
finally was able to create a Knight on the test servers and check out the basic stuff for all
Knight/Templar/Royal skills. Some of the Knight skills and many of the Templar skills still need some more testing done with two or more people to verify the PvP-related debuff and party buff effects I've taken from other sources.
I've been having lots of fun making big sigs, medium sigs, and itty-bitty wiki advertisements. Maybe you've seen me sporting them in my sig around the official LC USA forums. Today I made and am showing off a big Sorcerer/Specialist sig (points at image below). Need to create a Rogue one, then I'll have at least one for each class and will put them up on a page here on the wiki.
It occurred to me that I did the wiki userbars wrong. I realized that a userbar is supposed to have the word "user" in it, lol. So I need to fix the ones I've created so far and add that in. I think I'll make both "user" and "contributor" bars. The difference being that users read but don't add information, and contributors both read and add information.
As some people have already noticed,
purpleflame is now the first wiki Mod! Please send him a note of congratulations--he's earned it. Not only because of his contributions here (both public and to me in PM), but also his ones on the official LC forums. His wonderfully helpful attitude and desires to keep on learning all he can are great pluses as well. I am delighted that he accepted my invitation to become a Mod for us. :)
Update: May 26, 2008 -Created the
Choosing a server group and
Creating a character pages under the
Intro for new players section. Filled them in with all the relevant information I could think of and screenshots I took yesterday on test. Still need to do a bit more work before writing the pages off as completed. Please help me check the server group descriptions and the "most popular appearance" notes on the new pages. Because I wrote them without gathering other people's opinions first, it's likely that they're somewhat biased. I'd rather not have biased info on the wiki, so if you see something that's wrong or just plain "off," feel free to fix it or drop me a PM about it.
I've noticed HUNMagnum has begun filling in the
Teleporters page! Great job! I'd better start getting and cutting up those screenshots I want to put on there. Got to have screenshots, makes the pages more interesting. :)
Update: May 25, 2008 -All the information deleted by sixela60 yesterday has now been restored and I've unlocked the wiki. Be aware that some of the links on the restored pages may not work properly due to the way the wiki backup is organized. I did fix the major links and all the smaller ones that I noticed, so there shouldn't be
too many that are broken. If you find a link that's not working, please either take a moment to repair it or let me know about it so I can.
I am considering promoting some of the more active contributors to moderator status in case this ever happens again. This is the second time in six months that someone has gone on a deleting spree. Moderators are able to move, lock, rename, and delete pages; move and delete discussion threads; and ban people who misbehave. The biggest power being that last one.
Update: May 22, 2008 -My computer is fixed and I got to see Dv2 on live as well as on test again. Need to remember to make an updated resource location map now. I also need to remember to check all Teleporter NPC names and takes screenshots of their characters and the locations they can teleport you to. (Yes, I am writing that here so I'll see it and, well, remember!)
I reorganized the
Mounted pet skills page a bit today. Hope it looks better.
For at least the last couple months I've been playing with the idea of creating small userbars or signatures for people to use on the forums to help promote this wiki. Finally decided to do something about that thought. Ran around Randol on K6 today taking screenshots of random characters, then sat down with GIMP and experimented. I'm no graphic artist, but it was fun. Love transparent backgrounds, makes things much more flexible! Here's one of the userbars I came up with:
I've got that one displayed on my forum profile right now and have one of the sigs I created put into my forum sig area. When I get at least one graphic for each class made, I think I'll add them to a new page on this wiki for people to browse through and, hopefully, use. Think you guys would go for that? Hmm... maybe I could even offer to customize info and characters for people... :)
Update: May 14, 2008 -Some of the
Specialist skills have new (and better) names, thanks to the last patch! SormFireIce updated them on the skill pages, which brought them to my attention. I've now updated them on the
stat point pages too. Both skill names and icons should be changed to reflect the new names in-game. If I missed anything, please let me know. I think there might be a few Sorcerer guides that need updating; will check later, if I remember.
Edit: Looks like an Assassin skill also had its name changed. I have updated that on the wiki pages that talked about it.
I need your opinions on whether or not links on the stat charts to skill pages would be helpful. Check out my
thread right here and please let me know what you think.
Dratan version 2 was released today. I've updated the
Dratan monsters page with some of the new monsters screenshotted by people who are already on the servers exploring. Please help me with the updates! We not only need to add in information for all new monsters, but we need to find out which old monsters are gone. I had a finished resource location map and the beginnings of a monster location map to add here when Dv2 was released, but lost both maps when my computer got taken over by the virus last week. I will start drafting some new ones for you guys as soon as possible.
Edit: Nevermind with the monster location map, Whiteselkie has made one and put it up on the forums for us all. :) It looks great, she did a real nice job cutting out the monster icons. wwsean08 added it to the Dratan map page here on the wiki, be sure to take a look! And definitely karma selkie for her hard work!
There's a basic Dratan CS guide on the forums right now. I have created a page under the
Guilds and guild events section that links to it. Once more information starts coming out about the DCS, we'll hopefully be able to write a more complete DCS guide here that'll be similar to the one for MCS.
Update: May 08, 2008 -I put tags on almost two hundred of the wiki pages today, including (but definitely not limited to) all the ones under the
Class skills,
Equipment stat information,
Job change, and
Pets sections. Now those pages should have links to related class, equipment, job, and pet pages listed at the bottom of the page. Pretty awesome, huh? Tags are like auto-matcher-upers. In addition to tagging those pages, I also began filling in the
Titan weapons & armor section. Got the weapon pages completed and updated their links on the
Wiki nav page. Will get to the armor pages soon I hope.
Have you noticed?
drdutch has been working in the
Guilds and guild events section, filling in information about the new guild system and writing a couple guides on how to use its special features. I think they're looking pretty good so far, as usual. Be sure to drop him some karma for his hard work! And while you're on the forums, pass some karma to
purpleflame for his help in the discussion forum and
5fingers for his work on the equipment pages, too. :)
The
Alchemy page now contains information about making Medium Mana Potions. The necessary manual type--called Medium Healing Potion Manual--has finally been released in LC USA! Last week Superman0X sold millions of them by the arenas on the different servers (or so I was told by a player who bought some). This week they're in the Item Mall and selling in packs of 50 for 49AP. I hope that they will eventually be put in the shops of the general merchant NPCs.
The patch this week gave many class/job skills new skill descriptions to "better reflect what the skill actually does," as GMAracton put it. So far I have only been able to check the wiki descriptions for the Mage and Witch skills against the descriptions of my character's skills in-game. I'll need your guys' help getting the other skill descriptions checked! Please especially check buff and passive skills. There are quite a few that increase the various types of evasion. Before this patch they said that they just reduced your chance of getting hit, but now they
should actually say that they increase your evasion.
My main computer was killed off by a virus yesterday. I lost all wiki text backups, all wiki image backups, all screenshots, all icons, all equipment pictues I had waiting to be added, all game notes, all bookmarked LC sites I used as references, and more. Obviously both my LC install and LC test server install got wiped. The only things I have left are what little was saved on to a USB drive that, thankfully, got disconnected when the virus took over the computer. My computer will be reformatted some time next week. Until then, I am using a laptop. Its graphics card is not powerful enough to run LC so I will not be able to add game images of any sort, do price updates, collect skill information, fill in stat charts, or do anything other than text updates and wiki organizing for the next week or so.
Update: May 02, 2008 -I filled in quite a few missing weapon screenshots and some missing armor set screenshots in the
Mage weapons & armor sections today. Currently, the only weapon missing is the level 73 wand and the only armor sets missing are the 60-62 and 75-77 ones. I will fill in the 25-27 armor set later, when I have a minute to crop it. I need to re-crop and re-add some of the other screenshots I took today, too, because I've realized I got the width/height limits mixed up. I shrunk all the pictures so they'd conform to what I
thought was a 300 pixel height limit. Turns out I actually set the height limit at 340 pixels. Silly me.
The
Sorcerer weapons & armor section now has tables and equipment icons in place, so it can start being filled in with screenshots. I've noticed drdutch has started putting tables, equipment icons, and screenshots into the
Knight weapons & armor section. (Thank you drdutch!) I created the necessary tables and pasted the equipment icons on all the weapon pages. Will get around to completing the armor pages in a bit if drdutch or another one of y'all doesn't beat me to it. ;)
Vindalana has been doing some work on the
Powders page recently. He's been experimenting with different levels of Smelting Stones and seeing how they affect the level of mineral that is created. I've always thought the resulting mineral level was randomly chosen, but it seems I thought wrong. If you're interested in creating your own minerals, be sure to check his results out!
There is a new page named
Teleporters. So far it has no content, but I do have a plan for it. My intentions are to give a short guide on how teleporters work (using Teleporter Eteal as the example), then detail which teleporters take you where. If possible, I would like to add in screenshots of each teleporter's character, their name, their location (coordinates/map), and a screenshot of their message window to show where they can take you.
