Most of you know what pet leveling is. This Guide is to expand on the already present Pet Leveling Guides, giving a feasible way to train those lvl 37 horses or dragons we so sorely need.
Props go to AsariaSilvanest for the level information on this page.
Anyway, every class has most likely been tried to pet level, to try and find a good balance, not doing too much damage and taking very little. The only class I can think of that could do this efficiently is the Knight. A Temple Knight to be precise. Shields give a massive boost to defense, after level 20 over 100 defense just from a +3 shield. Most of you will comment that a Knight does too much damage for the enemy to be able to regen, but that's where PKing comes in. More on that later.
You want to get the Knight to Lvl 35, and yes you do the Class Change to Templar (Temple Knight) For stats you are going to need 2 con after class change for wall of belief and then pure dex for the evasion bonus/accuracy.
Ok, you want a level 37 horse, so when you create your pet leveler, get him a horse immediately, so the first one levels up as you do. At some point you are going to want to SP farm in prokion for the necessary skills for this to work.
General Skills: -
Lvl 1 Divine Shield (4 SP)
Also a Prerequisite, unless you want to be recasting this every 5 minutes I suggest you dont bother. The 50 defense it gives makes barely any difference in the long run.
Lvl 5 Devotion (163 SP)
This one is obvious, it gives an extra 70 attack power on lvl 5, which is the equivalent of about 120 damage per hit! No good for afk pet leveling, but handy as hell for leveling your character up.
Lvl 1 Fatal Divide (2 SP)
Useless to you, you need the 1 point as a Prereq though
Lvl 1 Armour Break (3 SP)
Also a Prereq, useless skill even when maxed, lets you do an extra 20 damage at most in prokion
Lvl 1 Weapon Break (6 SP)
Another Prereq, has ok attack power when maxed but you might as well save your SP
Lvl 5 Mana Break (228 SP)
Annoying skill, since it puts down Magic Defense, ok in parties with Mages and Sorcerers, but it only lowers it by 25. This skill is useless. On another note this skill has the highest skill damage of all the knight skills, but if you want to use it, be prepared to need lots of mana pots or to rest every ten monsters.
Lvl 5 Shield Strike (196 SP)
Max this if you want to stun monsters while leveling or SP farming
Passive Skills: -
Lvl 5 Candid Defense (65 SP)
Gotta love those passives, max this for extra 100 defense
Lvl 1 Uncanny Movement (3 SP)
This is a prerequisite skill for Divine Shield. Feel free to max this if you want, the extra running speed is handy.
Lvl 5 Vitality Control (163 SP)
This is your life blood, without it you would only recharge 1 hp per 3 seconds. You are not able to afk Pet Level without this skill
Well thats it for Knight Skills, onto the Templar Skills.
A total of 833 SP for these skills
You are only going to need two skills as a Templar, both of them are passive, and they both increase defense by a nice big chunk
Lvl 5 Wall Of Belief (227 SP)
155 extra defense, what's not to like?
Lvl 1 Candid Defense 2 (60 SP)
Only goes to lvl 1, but gives a massive 120 defense
A total of 287 SP for Templar skills
Ok, with that out of the way I am going to list some skills you definitely dont want or need.
Quick RecoveryWell you don't want to be sitting down to recover HP, you lose time for gaining SP or XP if you do that, max it if you want but it is completely unnecessary
Deep Wound TrainingThis is something you definitely want to avoid. On lvl 5 it gives a 10% chance to do a critical or deadly hit. When you are fighting weaponless, you may not do any more damage with a critical hit, but think of it this way. Even when you miss (missing is good for pet leveling too) you have a 10% chance to do a ciritical hit, so crits can take the place of misses meaning more damage to the enemy, 10% may not seem like much, but it certainly adds up, especially when youre doing say, 23 damage per hit on a treant and would like to be missing quite a bit so it can regen.
Pet ExperienceA lot of People are still unsure about just how pets gain their exp. I would like to clear things up. Pets gain exp based on hits that do damage in a battle, meaning if you are doing damage to the enemy, the pet will gain 1 xp point every 3.5 seconds but misses do not count and you
won't gain pet exp if you keep missing.
Leveling GuideI'll keep this short as there are plenty of leveling guides out there. Basically you want to help level your first pet up as you are levling your knight, this way his defense is higher so he can level easier. If you are in a Guild you can get your exp capped earlier on and level a pet up to your level before moving on.
Lvl 12 Saquatches
Notoriously easy to pet level on, get to lvl 10 and try to train your pet to lvl 10. You wont have Vitality Control until lvl 20 though, so you can't afk here for very long and will have to have plenty of healing potions handy
Lvl 21 HarpiesAlso good to pet level on, but you still won't have Vitality Control so you cant afk these efficiently. If you do have Vitality Control, you're most likely doing too much damage to them, so you won't be able to afk them anyway
Lvl 26 TreantsGet to lvl 19 or 20 but no higher, max Vitality Control and afk these babies until kingdom come! These hit slow and are not pet aggro, the problem is, they get bored after a while and will wander off because of the low damage they are taking. Most of the time you will be able to catch it and start attacking it to get it's attention again
ButchersThese are the next lvl monster from Treant, lvl 28 Butchers have slightly better regen than Treants so take longer to kill so if Treants are dying easily try Butchers, but be aware, lots of people will more than likely ks you if you are visible to them
Berserkers I am currently afk pet lvling them on lvl 23 (lvl 25 works well also) with my knight, most of the time they only do 1 damage to me, but they can do up to 45 damage a hit, this is rare though, so don’t worry so much, you should be able to afk them without dying, if you have around 650 - 750 defense you should be ok. The only problem with berserkers is trying to lure one to a safe lvling place that’s on flat ground, i've tried it in little cubby holes in mountains, but when they get bored they wander off and attack breaks off. If you are good at following coordinates, a well-hidden spot to afk pet lvl is at corr: 1165, 845. This spot can be a bit difficult/confusing to get to, so I will explain how to get there. It is located south of the Mystic Swamp. First, you must enter into the Mystic Swamp area at corr: 1179,477. Be forewarned to stay away from the actual swamp and stay to your right close to the mountains. At your current lvl, either Doom Slayers or Blood Frenzy will kill you. Continue along side the mountains until you reach corr: 1340,774. Enter that area, turn right, and follow that path until you find corr: 1130,862 face west and walk into your new secret pet lvling spot.
Gnolls
Once you've hit Level 35 for Candid Defense 2 you have no training left to do. Try and have +4 armour set and a +6 shield if possible. Be careful in these areas, there are two things that will interrupt your afk training.
Gnoll Lancers
These are the last stop on the pet levelers journey. When picking a Gnoll Lancer to pet lvl on stay away from spots with Gnoll Soldiers in that area. The Gnoll Soldier might get to close and kill you, and if not you, he will defiantly kill your pet. Do not try to pull one to away from its original spawn spot which has a Gnoll Soldier in that area either. The Lancer will slowly stray back to his spawn spot dragging you and you pet along with him, causing the situation i explained above, which you want to avoid.
Pking
Most of you know what pking is, so I'll get straight to it. You will want, at the end of your training to get one of your friends to let you kill them at least 10 or 20 times. This lowers your damage output by 1 point per player kill. So if you were doing 26 damage on a Treant, PK your friend 10 times and you will only do 16 dmg per hit. which means the Treant will be able to regen his HP faster than you can lower it, meaning you can AFK on Treants indefinitely. Obviously I wouldn't recommend doing the PK trick until you are lvl 35 as you don't want to be doing 20 less damage when SP Farming or leveling. If you do have a red name and still need, or now want to lvl your char more read this info on how to get rid of your red name
Removing red name from Pking
Thing to remember and reasons to check in on your pet lvler/pet.
- If you want to try a different mob to pet lvl on that is not on the list above go to the Monster info page to check that it is not a "pet eater" or it will kill your pet over time
- Even if the mob you are pet lvling on does not do damage, you can still get killed.
- Pet lvl on non PvP servers to avoid getting killed.
- Look out for Pandora Beasts or Pandora boxes, people will lure Pandora Beasts on you and get you killed.
- Do not pull the mob to far away from his original spawn spot. He will slowly stay back to his spawn spot and drag you and you pet along with him. This might cause a number of situations to occur. (A) You might be dragged into a spot which is dangerous and get you, your pet, or both killed, (B) The mob might just completely vanish (C) Your attack might be blocked by a tree or other obstacle allowing him to get away from you.
- Ksers make it their business to kill the monster you are afk pet lvling on.
- If you pet is your lvl or lower and is at 100/100starvation (not hungry) you will have 8 hours of pet lvling before you have to feed him, assuming none of the above has happened.
- If your pet is 5 lvls or higher than you are his rate of starvation increases (needs to be feed stones more often)
- If you are at a lvl you would like to stay at,but are taking to much damage try (A) Move to a lower lvl mob from the list above. (B) Add addition + to your armor. (C) Buy 1 or more Stone Of Shadow/SOS for increased evasion.
- If you are at the lvl you who like to stay and are not taking damage, but are doing to much damage read the PKing info above.
Once you have done all this you just need to find a safe spot to afk, hoping nobody finds you, try looking for plateaus in mountains and little cubby holes away from any monsters, or try afking underwater, as the 'KS Police' won't usually look for you underwater.
Good Luck and have fun!
