Tool AidHere's the icon of what a Tool Aid looks like. You've probably seen these things before. They're pretty common monster drops, if you are fighting white-named monsters. Fighting something that is blue, green, yellow, or red-named will lower the drop rate. So if you need Tool Aids, only fight white-named stuff!

Tool Aids boost your tool production output. That means that they make you gather "more" in "less" time. In actual fact, you end up gathering less than you would have if you'd just gathered randomly from a temporary resource. But you definitely do end up getting more stuff for the amount of time you spend. When using a Tool Aid, it takes between 5 and 60 seconds to get the materials that you're gathering for.

To use a Tool Aid on one of your production tools, you need to equip the tool and drag the Tool Aid's icon from your inventory, up over the icon of the equipped tool. Once you see the tool's name appear, release the Tool Aid.

Tool Aids - Last Chaos - Guides & InformationIf you clicked "Yes" on the last message, this will be the next one you get. It lets you know that the Tool Aid has been successfully applied to your production tool. Believe it or not, sometimes Tool Aids won't work. If your tool has less than 10 endurance, you will receive an error instead.

Once a Tool Aid has been applied to a tool, the tool will turn into a "Boost [tool name]." Boosted tools no longer lose endurance. Boosted tools may only be used for selective gathering. If you try to gather randomly, you'll get the error message displayed on the right.Tool Aids - Last Chaos - Guides & Information

Ok, so if you have to gather selectively with a boosted tool, how many of each type of raw material will you get? Here's a chart to show you.

Stones

Herbs
Low-grade
Flawed Stone75 Flawed Stone
Zeta Wave Energy75 Zeta Wave Energy

Medium-grade

Epsilon Wave Energy43 Epsilon Wave Energy

High-grade

Gamma Wave Energy27 Gamma Wave EnergyGreen Herb Leaf27 Green Herb Leaf

As you can see, a Tool Aid will give you 75 low-grade raw materials, 43 medium-grade raw materials, or 27 high-grade raw materials. Choose what you want carefully. Once a boosted tool gives you the items you're gathering for, the tool will break--no matter how much endurance it has left. Because of this, many people will wear their production tools down to less than 100 endurance, then use a Tool Aid on the tool. That way they get the most from their tool.

If you are gathering raw materials for your pet(s), always gather the high-grade raw materials. Why? Well, if you do a little math, you get:

75 (low-grade) x 1 = 75 points for pet hunger/sympathy/health
43 (medium-grade) x 3 = 129 points for pet hunger/sympathy/health
27 (high-grade) x 5 = 135 points for pet hunger/sympathy/health

So there you go. Fewer doesn't always mean less!

Besides the regular Tool Aids that you can receive as drops, there are also Silver Boosters, Gold Boosters, and Platinum Harvest Boosters. These three types of Tool Aids may be bought from the Item Mall for 49 AP, 79 AP, and 99 AP a piece, respectively. If regular Tool Aids increase the amount you gather by 100%, then Silver Boosters increase it by 140%, Gold Boosters increase it by 200%, and Platinum Harvest Boosters increase it by 300%. The exact number of materials of each grade that each booster will get you are as follows:
