The Future Skills
Jun 23 2008, 12:30 PM EDT
My thoughts on the skills: I think the sp cost is fine, but the reward is not. For spending that much sp, the benefit should be higher. The reason I think the sp cost is fine: it will promote a variety of characters. As it stands now, every character at a certain level is basically the same. A level 60 player of any class is almost exactly the same as the next, very little can be done to seperate yourself from the rest.We all strive for the same set of armor, the same accessories and eventually may get them. This makes all character basically come out as if made by a cookie cutter, 99% the same. With the skills as much as they are going to cost, players now face a decision: which one do I upgrade? This will set the characters apart, but only a little. The benefit needs to go up, keep the cost the same, and we will have truely diverse characters. 28 out of 35 found this valuable. Do you?

I agree, for their cost, the benefit is really not that great.

I think that they are going to have to have a massive discount on sp pills - making pills more worth it to purchase and have more sp driven events. I personally will want to max all of my skills but even if I sp forever which I basically do anyway, I dont think that it is possible unless all exp is donated to the guild thus staying at the one level for months if not years, lmao... Aeria want to keep us forever in this game lol.. I dont think that many people will be training for the special crafting skills with the amount of sp required for these skills.

further to this I wanted to add that I am a cleric and that it appears after looking at the other skills that we are hard done by - requiring more sp than all of the other classes... is that really fair... I dont think so...

<Joke mode on>Ever thought about why the cleric is called cleric? Think about "real life clerics" doing prayers and learn all day ^^ 0 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"<Joke mode on>All I can say is that is difficult enough finding clerics in this game - don't you think... People aren't going to want to choose this class. And who is going to find a Cleric for their demon/tower parties... no one, because they are all going to be too busy sp farming.. Do you find this valuable? |

Well something needed to be done, according to the post on the official forum by GM's: they actually wanted to increase the benefits and leave the cost alone. Smart move IMO, for the reasons I stated. But, according to the developers; that would wipe out the work they put into it. As a programmer/developer myself, I know this is false (I wanted to use stronger words). I don't even use the most expensive developing tools (about $2000 total), but even those have a way to track every single change I make, what other areas it effects, and how it effects those other areas. There are pros (for them) to keeping it this way, LC is a beginners MMORPG... I am NOT putting it down in any way by saying this. By removing as many decisions as possible, they can keep their status as such, and gain/keep new customers who want a casual MMORPG whose only real choice to make is what class to play. 3 out of 3 found this valuable.
