Pet Leveling Criticism / Harassment

Pet leveling and being harassed vs cheating. After many weeks as a "noob", I've only just learned about leveling pets quicker. So I set one up and watched it for a couple of hours. Then along comes NameWithheld and kills my prey, a harpy. I took a screen capture. I get another harpy and start leveling again, so he comes back and kills that one too. I took another screen capture. Then I tell him that I've taken screen captures of both hits. He challenges me over it and calls me a cheat for leveling pets that way. He says (and I quote, but not in all caps like he did), "If you want to lvl your pet do it like the rest of us.... don't afk cheater". Whilst I'll keep the screen captures, and take action if he does it again, I take offense at the cheating comment. It's my choice how I enjoy the game, not his. And where does he think all those full grown pets for sale in the market came from? Pet leveling it seems is a well established pastime - just look up the Pet Leveling section in here. There is a nasty side though, as people think it's funny to kill a leveler's prey, or worse, lure other prey there to kill your pet and you, which is apparently all perfectly legal, until they keep doing it, then it becomes harassment, which is actionable. Check out the section marked IMPORTANT in Eatrice's leveling guide ( http://lastchaosinfo.wetpaint.com/page/Eatrice%27s+Horse+and+Drake+Leveling+Guide ) What say you? Would you rather there be no quick-levelled pets for sale in the market? Isn't it each user's choice whether they level pets this way? Mat Do you find this valuable?

In an interesting twist to this, I was leveling about half an hour ago, when a Titan came up to me. We exchanged greetings, then he buffed me with extra attack strength for 3 hours. I thought he was being kind, and as the buff didn't dramatically decrease the life of my prey, i decided just to thank him as he left rather than make a fuss. Obviously his intent wasn't help at all, because he turned around, came and got my prey and killed it, then stood beside me without saying a word. Eventually he went off. I then allowed my character to be killed to get rid of the buff and happily returned to leveling. Because he was civil initially and I thought trying to be helpful, I didn't take screen captures. But I have his name and will be ready next time. Do you find this valuable? |

This is going to happen if you afk pet lvl. Not much you can do about it as someone legitimately could be killing your monster as part of a quest, etc and it could be argued that someone that is afk levelling is not actually "playing" the game. I would have to say this is a grey area at best. I do agree it is not courteous, nor nice, but definately would not agree that it should be punishable by any extreme measure. For example, in Trum at pet statues if someone is running thru while you are lvling your pet, it would be impossible to say they intentionally brought monsters into the room, even if it happened repeatedly, they could have died in next room and ran back up repeatedly. My opinion is that afk pet lvling leaves you open to this, and thankfully 99% of players are nice enough to leave you alone.
